Cairo 2030 Olympics

The objective of this assignment was to design a comprehensive branding portfolio for a future Olympic Game using avant-garde design techniques inspired by the principles of Futurism, Constructivism, and New Typography. The project involved creating a logo, pictogram set, poster, and visual assets for a country that has not yet hosted the Olympics.

One of the main challenges was balancing innovative design with the need for clarity and accessibility, especially when developing symbols for diverse audiences. Additionally, I had to creatively represent a country's cultural identity while ensuring the design felt timeless and adaptable to various applications in the global spotlight.

The poster series for the 2030 Olympics showcases each of the sports included in the games. This figures in the poster follow three distinct movements of playing the sport. Pictured here, is accelerating when running. The background includes three triangles, representing the three Great Pyramids of Giza.

The pictograms shown below take inspiration from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics with the form of the figure. Adding a modern twist with each of the sports that are represented, these pictograms combine both the past and present of Cairo.

The Cairo 2030 Olympics logo highlights a part of ancient Egyptian culture, the lotus flower. Each of the five petals shown on this flower represent one of the Olympic rings.
